The History of Pawfect Style Academy
In 2004 Clipped to Pawfection was created. Starting as a small grooming business behind the Buderim Vet Surgery it was a simple operation consisting of a table, clippers, a dryer and a very dedicated groomer who could see bigger things. In February 2005 Clipped to Pawfection relocated into a large Salon, located above the Buderim Vet Surgery and grew into a highly successful business where it operated until Christmas 2007.
Due to family commitments it relocated to Gloucester Road as a Home Based business in January 2008. Here, a purpose built salon was built and a family environment was created for many of the existing Clipped to Pawfection clients. The hours of the salon were based around family and the salon worked to enable the best possible service for clients whilst still allowing for family time. In April 2009, Clipped to Pawfection welcomed back Shannon one of the experienced groomers from the larger salon. This enabled the salon to open Monday to Friday.
In 2010 Clipped to Pawfection evolved into a new company, Pure Paws, the name change was necessary as no longer did the business just offer quality dog spa services but also expanded in its retail sector and added training courses and a canine bakery. After a brief stay at a Maroochydore premise it was decided that there really is ‘No Place Like Home’ and it relocated back to Gloucester Road in Buderim, in 2011, to offer quality personalized dog spa services, grooming training and an onsite dog boutique and bakery.
2016 has seen some big changes with the sale of our Gloucester Road Home and Salon. Pure Paws and its sister school Pawfect Style Academy have now moved to a larger Purpose built Spa and Training Center in Palmwoods. Exciting times are coming to the center as the focus of Pure Paws shifts and changes it's name to be solely known as Pawfect Style Academy from everyday canine styling to a bigger emphasis on new groomer and home groomer training.
What Equipment do we use?
Only quality grooming equipment is used. Hydraulic lift tables are used so groomers are not having to lift dogs and elderly larger dogs can step onto the table with ease. Wahl clippers and blades are used and a variety of Japanese and German Shears are used for scissor finishing to allow for that ‘professional look.’ Dogs are now clipped with the aid of a Romaine Clipper Vac System which allows for less pressure on dogs skin and joints enabling a less stressful groom for older dogs and dogs with joint and skin problems and also allowing the comfort of always knowing blades will be cool to groom with.
Bathing takes place in a professional hydro bath and all dogs are assessed, in temperament and coat condition, as to whether they receive a warm hydro bath treatment or a warm massage hand wash. Only quality preservative and sulphate free shampoos and conditioners are used and, once again, these are chosen to suit the dogs coat type and condition.
Dogs are kept in individual crates for safety and hygiene but our up to date crate systems enable us to create a larger area for large dogs or families. Dogs from the same family are crated together to avoid separation anxiety.
The salon is an open plan salon so clients can see what takes place and the groomers can see all dogs at all times. This not only allows the groomer to interact with the dogs while they are in their care but allows the dogs to see other dogs being groomed – great for those dogs who are a little ‘grooming shy’.
