Meet the Pawfect Style Academy Family

The spa and training center is run by professional, caring and experienced groomer and teacher Lesley Richards.  She strives to make clients, two and four legged to feel a part of the Pawfect Style Academy family environment and is always on the lookout for ways to continue her learning through grooming competitions and seminars.
Lesley Richards ICMG
Lesley has been grooming since 2003 and was the Sunshine Coast’s first

Internationally Certified Master Groomer.   She completed her certification

with the International Professional Groomers Association in 2008 and achieved

an average of 83% across all exams.  Certification covers all 193 of the Australian

National Kennel Council recognized dog breeds, Canine Anatomy and Physiology,

Canine First Aid and Groomer Terminology and is undertaken through four written

and four practical exams. She also has a Certificate 3 in Companion Animal

Industries and a Certificate III in Pet Grooming which covers such areas as, dog and

cat behaviour, nutrition and grooming and her dog and cat Companion Animal

Hygienist certification.   Lesley has competed in the grooming competition ring many

times, placing first in the National Novice Terrier and Other Breeds category in 2005,

third in the inaugural model dog competition in 2010 and in 2012 received two second

places for Open Terrier Grooming and Hand Scissor Classes. 2015 saw her compete in

the Open Gundog class at the Qld Annual grooming competitions receiving a 3rd place.

Lesley was also a finalist in the Sunshine Coast Women’s Business Network Awards in 2007.
Previously Lesley worked as a high school teacher but gave this up to study in a field she had always been passionate about. She still holds her Bachelor in Education and has her Certificate IV in Training and Assesment.  As a young high school student she gave up most afternoons to do voluntary work experience at one of the local vets and by year 9 and 10 was working Saturdays and School holidays as a vet nurse/receptionist.  Prior to having children she spent most weekends showing her Australian Champion boxer Cassie and being shown up by her unruly male boxer Tango in various attempts at agility and obedience training.  Unfortunately all her initial boxer family have now passed over the rainbow bridge but now she is owned by her rescue cats Emma and Toby and her West Highland Terrier Willow, Bichon Bunny and her Boxer Squirt who love nothing more than to be with the students in the grooming spa keeping an eye on things.
